SPECIES GUIDELINES

Here you will be provided certain guidelines for each species to be kept in mind when creating and playing characters.

vampires

• Vampires are created by being bitten. Poison enters the bloodstream and unless the human body is drained completely of blood, the venom will seep into the person's veins and after three long and painful days they are fully transformed from a human into a vampire.
  
• Their diet is strictly blood. Wild vampires will drink human blood while vegetarians opt for animal blood to survive. They can live without blood, though it is virtually impossible for a vampire to go an eternity without it. The hungrier they are, the more dangerous they are.
  
• Wild vampires have red eyes while vegetarians have golden eyes. When hungry, their eyes turn black.
  
• Newborn vampires are stronger than normal vampires, but their blood lust is wilder. The newborn stage can last anywhere from 5-20 years depending on the person and the sort of people they have around them.
  
• It has historically been very hard for female vampires to conceive, though lately it has become easier in certain cases. Most children of two vampires will be born human and it is a very rare case that they are born full vampires.
  
• Immortal children are humans tuned into vampires under the age of 10. They are so incredibly adorable and charming, and it makes them the most dangerous. They have been outlawed by the Volturi.
  
• In the sunlight, their skin glitters like diamonds.
  
• The only way to kill a vampire is to tear them into pieces and burn them entirely by fire.
  
• Some vampires are gifted with supernatural powers, though it is not overly common and no two powers are exactly alike.
  
• They do not sleep.
  
• Their body temperature is extremely cold. Their skin is also very hard, like stone.
  
• They are incredibly fast and strong.

hybrids

• They are half vampire and half human. If their mother is human, their mother will usually die in childbirth. It is very rare that a hybrid is born from a vampire mother.
  
• They age very fast and are fully physically and mentally grown within seven years.
  
• Can eat a human or vampire diet.
  
• Their skin doesn't sparkle as badly as a vampire's and their eyes are normal eye colors.
  
• Their skin temperature is a bit higher, almost like a shapeshifter's.
  
• Can mate with shifters.
  
• It is very, extremely rare for a hybrid vampire to be venomous. There is only one recorded case of a venomous hybrid. Venomous hybrids contain all of the strengths of a normal vampire's. Non venomous suffer a weakness that without it, when they are dismembered they cannot put themselves back together and will die.
  
• Are as strong and have heightened senses like that of a regular vampire.
  
• Hybrid blood, when drank by vampires or Children of the Moon, can reverse their curse and remove the venom from their blood and can turn them human again. This is not a very well known fact among the supernatural population. If the vampire or Child of the Moon drinks directly from the hybrid, if the hybrid has any blood left in their body they will live, though the venom from the creature will make them sick for at least a week.
  
• No venomous hybrids are allowed on LH

shapeshifters

• Are born with the shifter gene. They normally take the form of an animal native to the area they are from...At least their ancestors before them who could shift and what they turned into.
  
• Normally travel in packs
  
• The change starts in the mid to late teen years, though there have been some and rare cases of it happening earlier. The age range for shifting will be no younger than 14 and no older than 22.
  
• Body temperature is extremely high.
  
• Strong, fast, heightened senses.
  
• The alpha of the pack is in control of the pack. The alpha law when given can literally force the pack members to do what the alpha says.
  
• Normally only start shifting because danger (normally vampires) is around.
  
• Their animal is normally a bigger version of the animal form they take on.
  
• Can mate with hybrids, but not vampires. Their scents repulse one another.
  
• Can live forever, as long as they continue shifting.
  
• Physical human forms appear adult and much bigger and stronger once the shifting starts.
  
• A good bit, but not all, shifters will have children who become shifters.

children of the moon

• Only become a Child of the Moon by being bitten by one
  
• Only change during the full moon
  
• Are slightly stronger with slightly heightened senses in human form, but aren't nearly as big and bad as vampires and shifters
  
• During the full moon, they are stronger than just about anything
  
• Silver can kill them

• No supernatural abilities.
