He had only $218 to his name, but he couldn't be happier to be out of Africa and into America. BADMEMORY: Aidan's worst memory was probably the day he lost his friend Bruce. The two were at a party that the police showed up to, and while Aidan got away, he has no idea what's happened to his best friend. He asked around at the various police stations in the area, but no Bruce Friheit has come in. Aidan believes that Bruce got away, but is still not sure where he is. HISTORY: Aidan grew up in the politically savage climate of South Africa, in a small pack of shifters that his parents headed. Patrick McNamara was the alpha of the pack, and as his oldest son, Aidan was expected to inherit the pack once he got to be old enough. However, the uptight and religious ways of his father were not Adian's ways. He longed for his own freedom, but was never able to get it. When Aidan was eight, his mother gave birth to another boy named Joel. Aidan tried to get his father to pick Joel as his heir instead, but Patrick would have none of it. He was a very traditional man, set in his ways and in his expectations of his oldest son. It wasn't long before Cheryl became pregnant again, this time giving birth to a baby named Heidi. By this time, Aidan was twelve years old. He thought he was old enough to strike out on his own, wanting to leave his father's pack and all of the expectations that his family had for him. He felt as though he had been cooped up his whole life. He packed his things and tried to run away, but Patrick caught him and asked where he was going. Aidan lied and said that he was going to camp outside with his friend, Bruce, and Patrick bought it. Aidan and Bruce were very close growing up, and Bruce felt the same way about Patrick that Aidan did. When the boys were nineteen, they got a flyer for a cruise to the Texan coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and were eager to go. It would be like exploring a new land for them, and they wanted to feel like they were on their own for once. After much begging from Aidan, Patrick finally relented, hoping that the trip would quench Aidan's thirst for adventure and get him to realize how much he wanted to be at home. Aidan and Bruce were overjoyed, and eagerly packed for the trip. They had a marvelous time on the way there, until the ship malfunctioned just off the coast of Florida. It was breached on a sandbar, and the captain couldn't get the ship unstuck. None of the passengers knew what to do, and helicopters came to get the passengers off the ship. Aidan and Bruce were among their number, and ended up in Florida instead of Texas. They still had a fabulous time, though, and they loved it so much that Aidan brought up the idea of just staying here. Neither of them wanted to go back home, and Bruce loved the idea. They quickly got as far away from Florida as they could, hitchhiking into the next state to conserve their money. For the two boys, it was like the adventure they had always wanted. They ended up in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, where they partied it up and had the time of their lives. Even after the hype of Mardi Gras had died down, Aidan and Bruce were addicted to the American party lifestyle. They made some friends and had even more fun, until one night when Bruce went missing. He and Aidan had gotten separated when the police crashed a party they were at, and Aidan couldn't find him. He hadn't been jailed, and neither of them had cell phones - they barely knew the name of the guy whose house they were at. Aidan stayed in the area for a while, hoping to come across his best friend, but never did. Aidan decided to explore the rest of the state after a while, and traveled a ways to Baton Rouge. In a small town of Merrydale outside Baton Rouge, he met up with the Quetico Pack and their leader, Erik Holcombe. This pack wasn't like the one he had left behind in South Africa, and Aidan decided that being a part of one to stabilize his crazy life might be a good idea.
